Fighting for Freedom

Advocating for the most vulnerable in our society is one of the best instruments that we have in our tool kit. It is important that those on the outside advocate in ways that amplify the voices of directly impacted people.

In order to be allies who amplify the voices of directly impacted people, one must first be equipped with the knowledge and resources needed to enact change. There are many organizations throughout the city of Chicago that are doing the good and hard work of fighting for justice for our incarcerated populations.

This October, SBI launched a 4-part Social Justice Advocacy series in order to feature local grassroots organizations advocating for policy change that will create better opportunities for people directly impacted by the criminal legal system.

The aim of this series is to learn about how we and our communities can get involved in the movement to create beloved community with and for those marginalized by the criminal punishment system.
